Revolutionary gravity-powered winery shaped Santorini's wine history
The opening of the Venetsanos family winery in Megalochori on Santorini in the late 1940s marked a turning point in wine production. The project was led by chemist and oenologist Georgios Venetsanos, who together with his brother Zannos ended the era of traditional underground 'Kanava' cellars and introduced modern, gravity-driven production.
