Rising component costs threaten smartphone demand
The global smartphone market recorded modest growth of 1 percent in the first quarter of 2026, but exceeded expectations despite rising cost pressures. According to industry analyst Omdia, volume was temporarily supported by inventory stockpiles, which however could not fully compensate for rising supply-side costs.
