Romania May Shut Down Nuclear Reactor Due to Danube Water Levels
Romanian nuclear power operator Nuclearelectrica threatens to shut down its last functioning reactor on August 13, 2026, as Danube water levels are falling rapidly. The power plant requires large quantities of cooling water. Another reactor was already shut down in July due to historically low water levels.
