Russia Models Itself on Chinese Messaging Apps
Russia plans to develop its state-owned messaging app Max following the example of Tencent's WeChat and TikTok's Douyin, explained Vladimir Kiriyenko, CEO of state internet company VK. The Kremlin is attempting to move Russian users away from Telegram, currently the country's most popular messaging app, to Max.
