Samothrace: Ancient sanctuary of the Olympian gods
Samothrace, a small rocky island in the northern Aegean, has a history of great significance despite its small size. The island is best known for the Sanctuary of the Great Gods (Hieron ton Megalon Theon) in Paleopolis. With Mount Saos rising 1,611 meters, Samothrace is among the more rugged Greek islands.
