Santorini declares Saint Irene as patron saint
The Greek island of Santorini has declared Saint Irene (Hagia Irini) as its official patron saint. The decision was made following a formal request from the Holy Metropolis of Thira, Amorgos and the Islands to the Municipal Council of Thira. The historical connection between the island and Saint Irene is rooted deep in the past.
