South Africa: App warns of air pollution in Johannesburg
Scientists at the University of the Witwatersrand have developed an application to warn Johannesburg residents of high pollutant concentrations. The South African metropolis is currently struggling with a massive increase in coal emissions from nearby mining regions, which is leading to respiratory diseases and other health problems in the population. The new app is intended to inform citizens in real-time about air quality.
