Storage heater tariff subsidy ends - electricity costs rise
Since May 2026, the electricity distribution company (EAC) no longer subsidizes storage heater tariffs following the liberalization of the electricity market that began in October 2025. This ends the system of cross-subsidization and forces consumers to bear real energy costs, leading to higher bills for households with storage heaters.
