Stricter EU rules for child protection in social media
The European Parliament voted by a large majority (395 to 136 votes with 80 abstentions) in favor of stricter provisions to protect children in social media and access to online services. The measures are intended to include an integrated European strategy to increase internet safety for minors. Globally, countries such as Australia are already implementing stricter age controls, while European countries are following this example.
