Stricter Measures Against Unfounded Asylum Applicants
Cyprus is tightening provisions for foreigners applying for asylum or subsidiary protection status without meeting the required criteria. The Council of Ministers can now issue arrest warrants against those who demonstrably submit applications solely to delay or prevent their deportation. These applicants will be housed in special facilities.
