Study: Women Bear Higher Emotional Burden in the Workplace
A study by the University of Nicosia with nearly 44,000 employees from 35 European countries shows that women experience significantly higher emotional demands in the workplace than men – even in identical positions. This additional emotional burden demonstrably has a negative impact on mental health, primarily through increased workplace stress. The research, published in Social Science & Medicine, documents a systematic gender inequality in emotional work burden.
