Supreme Court Recognizes Liability for Missing Persons
The Supreme Court of the Republic of Cyprus unanimously ruled in favor of the family of two missing persons (Loïzos and Giorgos Chatzigeorgiou) who were abducted by Turkish Cypriots in 1974. The court overturned the previous dismissal and ordered the Republic of Cyprus to pay 100,000 euros in damages, finding the government failed to conduct an effective investigation into the fate of the missing persons.
