Supreme Court Rejects Damages Claim Following Banking Crisis
The Cypriot Supreme Court rejected a damages claim from a Polish depositor who had deposited over 454,000 euros at the former Laiki Bank and received only 24,000 euros as a result of the haircut measure. The court ruled that EU law takes precedence over bilateral investment protection agreements between member states.
