Suspended Monastery Aliakmonas in Greece
The remarkable Zavorda monastery is carved into a rock face above the Aliakmonas River in northwestern Greece and houses two floors with superbly preserved frescoes from the 15th and 16th centuries. The sanctuary carved into the rock face has been a center of monastic life for centuries.
