Tennessee Carries Out First Execution of a Woman in 200 Years
Death row inmate Christa Pike is executed in Tennessee by lethal injection, making her the first woman the state has executed in over 200 years. Pike was sentenced to death three decades ago for the murder of a fellow student. Her clemency petition, which cited childhood trauma and sexual abuse, was rejected by Governor Bill Lee.
