The fading legacy of Milikouris roses
The mountain village of Milikouri was once renowned for the cultivation of Damascena roses and the production of rose oil, a tradition that is increasingly being forgotten. The Rosa damascena was more than just a plant in the village – rose bushes were traditionally planted at the edges of vineyards. This unique cultural heritage has largely disappeared today.
