TikTok pays 400 million dollars for child data privacy violations
The video platform TikTok has reached a settlement with US authorities for a payment of 400 million dollars over illegal data collection from children. The US Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a joint lawsuit in 2024 after the platform allegedly collected children's data without authorization. This is one of the highest penalties against the social media company.
