Tiny 149-Million-Year-Old Bird Revolutionizes Evolution Research
Chinese researchers identified the smallest known long-tailed bird species and shed new light on bird evolution approximately 150 million years ago. The newly described species Zhengheornis buyu lived during the Late Jurassic period and provides the strongest evidence to date for how early birds descended from their dinosaur ancestors. The fossil finds reveal previously unknown evolutionary pathways.
