Trade tensions between Ecuador and Colombia escalate
Ecuador threatens to increase tariffs on Colombian imports from 50 percent to 100 percent in the coming month, further exacerbating strained relations between the two South American countries. Colombian President Gustavo Petro called the threat "monstrous" and announced countermeasures, including potential withdrawal from economic agreements. The trade war between the two countries is thereby intensifying considerably.
