Tragedy in Kyrenia: Mother Sacrifices Life Jacket for Daughter
During the ferry disaster off the coast of Kyrenia on Sunday, 28-year-old Gurcan Gurel died after giving her own life jacket to her daughter. The victim's sister reported that Gurel heroically saved her daughter while her husband and son survived. Another fatality involved 28-year-old Border Police Lieutenant Fehri Atés, who saved his husband and son but lost his life while attempting to retrieve a life jacket.
