Tropical fish discovered off Crete - sign of ocean warming
Marine biologists discovered an adult yellow-striped angelfish off the southern coast of Crete for the first time in late 2025. The species, normally native to the Red Sea and Persian Gulf, was spotted in the rocky shallows. The discovery is considered another sign of the progressive warming of the Mediterranean Sea and the associated migration of tropical species.
