UK: Renewable energy reaches record share of electricity production
The United Kingdom achieved a record share of 52.5 percent renewable energy such as wind and solar power in electricity generation in 2025. However, the use of fossil fuels has simultaneously increased. The country has set the goal of largely decarbonizing its electricity sector by 2030, which requires a massive expansion of renewable energy.
