UN changes world map - Mercator projection to be replaced
The United Nations passed a resolution for the gradual abolition of the Mercator projection and the introduction of a more accurate world map that better represents the actual size of countries and continents. In the vote in the UN General Assembly in New York on September 4, 164 countries voted for the replacement of the historical map from the 16th century. The USA expressed concerns against this change.
