UN Secretary-General Guterres in Cyprus: peace negotiations not yet ripe
UN Secretary-General António Guterres is holding separate talks with Cypriot leaders. Turkish-Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman emphasized to Guterres the strong will of the Turkish-Cypriot people to find a solution to the Cyprus problem. Government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis expressed hope for progress before year's end, but acknowledged that conditions for serious negotiations are not yet in place.
