UN warns: More unaccompanied children on dangerous migration routes to Europe
A report by UN agencies shows that more than two-thirds of refugee and migrant children who reached Europe via Mediterranean and Balkan routes in 2025 were unaccompanied. The share of these children rose from 51 percent in the previous year to 67 percent, despite the overall number of child arrivals declining by 25 percent. Many of these children experienced exploitation during their journey.
