University of Frederick investigates small reactors for hydrogen
The H₂Zero research unit at the University of Frederick is evaluating the technical and economic potential of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). These are regarded as reliable low-carbon technology that could complement renewable energy sources and serve as a basis for hydrogen and desalination plants. However, economic viability depends on reactor capacity, capital costs, financing conditions, and operational readiness.
