USA Plans Military Base on Greenlandic Facility
Under a new defense agreement signed this week, US troops are to use the Arctic air force outpost Mestersvig in East Greenland. The base, approximately 240 kilometers from the nearest settlement, could develop into an important American military base in the Arctic and is currently operated by a small Danish military unit.
