USA warns shipping companies against Iran payments
The US Treasury Department is warning shipping companies against making payments to Iran for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz in order to avoid sanctions. Iran has demanded that ships transiting the strait pay fees, allegedly in connection with demands to end the American-Israeli conflict in Iraq.
