Wildfires on Crete: Two firefighters killed
Two seasonal firefighters were killed in a massive wildfire near Rethymno on Crete after becoming trapped in their vehicle and losing orientation in dense smoke. Greek authorities ordered the evacuation of several villages as wind gusts drove the fire across the island. Citizens were brought to safety by coast guard boats as the fire raged out of control.
